Mayflower Case emerged as a significant whistleblowing case exposing significant cybersecurity, technology governance and value-for-money concerns within a central government institution and its consultancy supplier. Within its particular scope, the case highlights issues of public interest, including the security of strategic digital assets, the efficiency of public spending, and the quality of essential public services. Despite responsible whistleblowing measures, the case faces big challenges posed by power asymmetry and highlights the necessity for urgent accountability and judicial oversight. For this, the case needs significant amount of financial (and pro-bono support) for its legal and procedural costs, for the case to reach independent courts on strong footing.
