Job Description
Does the thought of working for a heritage brand loved by cricketers, hockey players and footballers alike sound ideal for you? If you have a passion for sport I'm guessing it does!
We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established Australian sporting brand with a strong international presence, operating across wholesale, direct-to-consumer and B2B channels. Due to an immediate need, we’re seeking an experienced Website Content Manager to step in and take ownership of their website for a freelance or fixed-term contract. There’s strong potential for the role to become permanent for the right person.
This is a hands-on freelance role suited to someone who enjoys owning a website end-to-end, working closely with internal teams, and being part of a brand that has genuine emotional pull and global recognition within sport.
This isn’t a developer or technical SEO role — it’s about owning content end-to-end, driving consistency across global sites, and contributing to a strategy that reflects the brand’s identity and commercial priorities.
There is potential for this to move into a longer-term or permanent role, but the immediate focus is on securing someone who can start quickly and keep things running smoothly.
The Opportunity
As the Website Content Manager, you will:
- Manage day-to-day website content updates via CMS (WordPress or similar)
- Write, edit and maintain website copy including landing pages, product pages, FAQs and campaign content
- Ensure content is accurate, on-brand, well-structured and user-friendly
- Support campaigns, product launches and promotional activity
- Work closely with IT, marketing and design teams to align content with UX and business goals
- Maintain content governance, audits and overall site hygiene
- Liaise with external SEO partners (SEO execution is largely outsourced)
This is not a developer role, and not a pure SEO role — it’s about content ownership, clarity and usability.
What We're Looking For
You’ll ideally have:
- Proven experience in a Website Content Manager or similar digital content role
- Strong hands-on CMS experience (WordPress highly regarded)
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
- A solid understanding of UX principles and on-page SEO
- Experience navigating complex digital ecosystems — such as manufacturing, multi-region, or B2B/B2C hybrid environments — will be highly regarded.
- Experience working with web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Google Search Console) and basic SEO oversight is advantageous.
- The confidence to work autonomously and take ownership
- Availability to start immediately or at short notice
This role will suit someone who prefers working in-house with one brand, rather than juggling multiple clients agency-side.
The Setup
- Freelance / contract engagement
- Hybrid working (Melbourne-based)
- Immediate start required
