About the Role
We are seeking a freelance web developer to build a streamlined, legally compliant website focused on tobacco product access. The site must enforce strict age verification (18+) and SMS-based phone number confirmation, comply with Icelandic tobacco regulations, support Icelandic and/or English language, and provide a clean, premium-feeling user interface.
Deliverables
- Develop a responsive website with a clean, premium design
- Implement robust age verification (18+) before users can access tobacco products
- Integrate SMS-based phone number verification for user authentication
- Ensure full compliance with Icelandic tobacco regulations
- Provide support for Icelandic and/or English language
- Deliver a secure, reliable, and legally compliant platform
- Limit features to the essentials for compliance and usability
Requirements
- Proven experience in web development, preferably with compliance-focused projects
- Strong knowledge of age verification and SMS authentication systems
- Familiarity with legal requirements for tobacco sales, especially in Iceland
- Ability to design clean, user-friendly interfaces with a premium feel
- Proficiency in implementing multilingual support (Icelandic/English)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to legal compliance
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
- Availability to work remotely and deliver within agreed timelines
