Job Role : Windows Architect – Datacenter Infrastructure

About the Role


We are a stealth-mode managed services organization delivering enterprise-grade infrastructure services to SMB and large enterprise customers. We are looking for an experienced Windows Architect – Datacenter Infrastructure to design, standardize, secure, and operate large-scale Windows environments across multiple datacenter locations.


This role requires deep hands-on expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V virtualization, security hardening, and enterprise infrastructure operations, along with strong architectural and leadership capabilities.


Key Responsibilities


Windows Infrastructure Architecture and Design

  • Architect scalable, secure, and highly available Windows Server platforms for datacenter environments
  • Design and standardize solutions for Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, File and Print services, and Microsoft System Center components
  • Define architecture standards, naming conventions, build documents, and configuration baselines


Active Directory Architecture and Governance

  • Design and manage multi-domain, multi-site Active Directory forests
  • Govern FSMO roles, schema updates, trust relationships, replication topology, and domain security
  • Define and enforce OU design, GPO strategy, delegation models, and domain-wide policies
  • Ensure Active Directory security, monitoring, compliance, and disaster recovery readiness


Virtualization and Cluster Management (Hyper-V)

  • Architect and manage Hyper-V clusters, high availability, and resource pools
  • Oversee VM lifecycle management including provisioning, scaling, upgrades, and optimization
  • Lead Hyper-V migrations, platform upgrades, replication strategies, and storage integrations (iSCSI / FC)
  • Ensure resilient configurations for NIC teaming, NLB, and cluster networking


Security, Patch, and Compliance Management

  • Define and enforce Windows server hardening standards and secure configuration baselines
  • Govern OS patching and vulnerability remediation using WSUS, SCCM, BigFix, or similar tools
  • Manage enterprise endpoint protection and ensure continuous threat monitoring


Monitoring, Capacity Planning, and Performance Engineering

  • Architect monitoring and alerting frameworks using SCOM, Nagios, Zabbix, ManageEngine, or similar tools
  • Drive capacity planning, forecasting, and performance tuning for Windows and AD infrastructure
  • Produce regular health checks, performance reports, and growth projections


Incident, Problem, and Change Management

  • Lead resolution of critical P1 and P2 Windows and Active Directory incidents
  • Perform root cause analysis and drive long-term stability improvements
  • Govern change management processes including planning, approvals, implementation, and documentation


Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity

  • Design and maintain disaster recovery strategies for Active Directory, Hyper-V, File Services, and core Windows platforms
  • Conduct regular DR drills, backup validation, and recovery testing to ensure readiness


Collaboration, Projects, and Technical Leadership

  • Lead large-scale infrastructure deployments, migrations, transformations, and datacenter transitions
  • Collaborate with Network, Security, Cloud, Storage, and Application teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Mentor Windows engineers and establish best practices across teams


Cross-Platform and Cloud Exposure

  • Exposure to Azure or GCP cloud environments and hybrid identity solutions (Azure AD Connect)
  • Experience working with remote datacenter operations and integrated network and storage platforms


Required Experience and Skills

  • 12–16+ years of enterprise experience in Windows Server and Active Directory administration
  • Strong hands-on and architectural experience in datacenter environments
  • Deep expertise in Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022, Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP, Hyper-V, clustering
  • Strong understanding of ITIL-based service operations


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Certifications preferred: MCSE, MCSA, Azure Administrator or Architect, ITIL


Preferred Skills

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills in large-scale distributed environments
  • Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills
