The student will work on developing scalable distributed preconditioners in Ginkgo ( with the aim of improving the efficiency of scientific simulations in applications such as cardiac electrophysiology (MICROCARD: fluid flow (NekRS, OpenFOAM), and plasma physics (XGC, IPPL).
Expected qualifications: A Master's degree in Computer Science or Applied Mathematics.
Necessary knowledge: Modern C++, GPU computing with CUDA/SYCL, MPI, Krylov solvers
Preferred knowledge: Distributed preconditioners (BDDC, GDSW), CI/CD, collaborative software development.
The group is situated in the new TUM Campus, in Heilbronn, which is quickly becoming one of the most vibrant university towns in Germany, with the campuses of many international institutions such as TUM, ETH, Fraunhofer etc, fostering international collaborations.
