AG Trusses is seeking a physically fit individual experienced Wood Machinist to work full time in our fast-paced manufacturing factory. This role involves setting up jigs, cutting timber components, and ensuring precise assembly of Frame & Roof Trusses.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all workplace health and safety (WHS) guidelines, including PPE usage according to Australian Standards
- Set up and adjust jigs according to blueprints, specifications, and production schedules.
- Operate machines, saws, nail guns, and other power tools to cut timber accurately and efficiently.
- Assemble truss components, ensuring compliance with quality standards and safety protocols.
- Inspect materials for defects and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily production targets.
What you will need
- Basic knowledge of timber and building, although full training will be provided
- Proven experience as a Truss Jig Setter, Cutter, or similar role in frame and truss manufacturing
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and machinery (e.g., radial arm saws, jig systems)
- Strong attention to detail, physical fitness, and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 25kg)
What you will learn
- Manufacturing of timber components for house frames and trusses, using saw operations, tools and machinery
- Physical loading of timber for machining
- Successful and safe use of hand tools
- Interpretation of house plans
- Correct measurement of timber to cut to profile
- Quality control and quantity control, ensuring waste management and accuracy
Additional requirements
- Have your own reliable transport
- Certificate III in Wood Machining or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of work experience
- Be physically fit
- Reliable and punctual
- Experience with hand and power tools
- Frame and truss experience preferred
- Forklift license experience is a bonus but not essential (training provided if needed)
