Job Title:
XR Hardware, Fabrication & Io T Engineer

Senior Manager – XR R&D
Job Purpose:
To design, develop, and integrate physical hardware systems for XR / VR applications using Io T, embedded electronics, mechanical design, and advanced fabrication techniques. The role focuses on building interactive physical interfaces, haptic devices, smart props, and XR-integrated hardware that enhance immersive experiences through real-world interaction, sensing, and feedback.
Key Responsibilities:
1. XR Hardware & Io T System Development
- Design and develop XR-interfaced hardware using Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi platforms.
- Integrate sensors, actuators, haptics, LEDs, motors, and wireless communication modules (Wi Fi/BLE).
- Develop embedded firmware for real-time interaction, data acquisition, and device control.
- Enable seamless communication between physical hardware and XR applications.
2. Mechanical Design & CAD
- Design mechanical components and assemblies using Creo / CATIA / Solid Works.
- Create ergonomic, wearable, and prop-based designs for XR interaction.
- Perform tolerance analysis, mechanism design, and assembly validation.
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, durability, and user comfort.
3. Digital Fabrication & Prototyping
- Execute rapid prototyping using 3 D printing (FDM / SLA).
- Develop molds and cast components using silicone, resin, and polyurethane.
- Support CNC machining, laser cutting, and mechanical finishing processes.
- Assemble functional prototypes for XR demos, testing, and user trials.
4. PCB Design & Electronics Integration
- Design schematics and PCB layouts using Ki Cad / Altium / Eagle.
- Develop custom PCBs for sensor hubs, motor control, power management, and Io T communication.
- Oversee PCB fabrication, soldering, testing, and debugging.
- Ensure electrical reliability, safety, and EMI considerations.
5. XR System Integration & Testing
- Collaborate with XR software teams to integrate hardware with Unity / Unreal-based XR systems.
- Support calibration, latency optimization, and real-time feedback loops.
- Conduct testing to validate interaction accuracy, responsiveness, and reliability.
- Support XR demos, proof-of-concepts, and pilot deployments.
6. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain documentation for CAD models, PCB designs, firmware, and assembly procedures.
- Prepare BOMs, wiring diagrams, and prototype build instructions.
- Ensure adherence to XR lab safety, R&D SOPs, and quality guidelines.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with XR developers, designers, industrial designers, and product teams.
- Participate in design reviews, prototyping sessions, and usability testing.
- Provide technical insights to improve XR realism, interaction quality, and scalability.
8. Demo, Training & Support
- Support internal and external XR demos, exhibitions, and training sessions.
- Troubleshoot hardware issues during demos and live interactions.
- Implement improvements based on user feedback and XR performance observations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s / Diploma in Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Instrumentation, or Related Engineering.
- 2–6 years of hands-on experience in Io T, fabrication, embedded systems, or hardware prototyping.
- Experience working on XR, VR, robotics, interactive installations, or product prototyping is preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong hands-on experience with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi.
- Proficiency in Creo / CATIA / Solid Works for mechanical design.
- Experience with 3 D printing, molding, and fabrication techniques.
- PCB design experience using Ki Cad / Altium / Eagle.
- Knowledge of sensors, actuators, motors, haptics, and wireless communication.
- Strong problem-solving and hands-on prototyping mindset.
- Ability to collaborate with software and design teams in XR environments.
