We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Youth Worker to join our After School Care program, with the potential to expand into Before School Care in the future. If you enjoy working with children, creating fun and engaging experiences, and being a positive role model, this role could be perfect for you.

About the Role

As a casual Youth Worker in our After School Care program in Mitchelton, you’ll support children aged 5–12 years in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment. Your role will involve supervising activities, supporting children with diverse needs (including disabilities), and helping them unwind and transition from the school day in a positive way. You’ll play an important role in creating a welcoming, engaging atmosphere where every child feels supported and valued.

Shift Hours

  • After School Care: 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM
  • Before School Care (potential future opportunity): 6:30 AM – 9:00 AM

Optional Extra Hours: If you're interested in working during school holidays, you may have the opportunity to support our program during that time as well.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist children with their needs, including emotional support, mobility, and communication assistance.
  • Lead or assist with recreational activities and games to keep children engaged.
  • Ensure a safe, fun, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued.
  • Collaborate with the team to provide the best care possible for all children.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm for working with children.
  • Patience and understanding when supporting kids with varying needs.
  • Experience with children (with disabilities) is preferred.
  • Experience in a school setting is a bonus.

Essential Requirements

  • QLD Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card)
  • First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • NDIS Orientation Module Certificate: ‘Quality, Safety & You’
